Beliefs

Our Beliefs

God: There is one God; He is the almighty creator who sustains and governs all things according to his sovereign will for his own glory. God the Father is united with God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.

Sin: Although men and women were made perfect in the beginning, they turned away from God. Because of this, mankind is now spiritually dead, born sinful and completely unable to turn towards God, unless the Holy Spirit gives life.

Jesus Christ: The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God, but became fully human when he was born from a virgin and lived on the earth.

The Cross: Through his perfect life, his crucifixion, his death and resurrection, Jesus bought salvation for all who put their trust in him. He became their substitute, taking away their sin and giving them His righteousness.

The Resurrection and Ascension: Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. Soon afterwards he was taken up to heaven where he is now ruling over everything.

Salvation: Men and women can now receive, by faith, the righteousness of Jesus as a free gift, because of his death on the cross. This means people can be completely forgiven by the grace of God and made righteous – even though they are sinners.

The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus after his return to heaven. He comforts, counsels, empowers and helps believers to live a holy life, giving them gifts to help them serve God. He also challenges non-Christians about their sin and brings them to Jesus for salvation.

The Second Coming: God’s Kingdom will come in its fullness with the personal, glorious return of Jesus to earth. He will judge all mankind, bringing God’s just condemnation to the unsaved and receiving the saved to eternal glory in a new heavens and a new earth.

The Bible: The Bible is God’s word to us, inspired by him and utterly trustworthy. It cannot be added to or taken from, and contains all the teaching we need to help us believe and then follow Jesus. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand the Bible.
